Tie Dye Cookies
Tie Dye Sugar Cookies, made from coloring cookie dough. These are not only super cute, but no frosting or decorating is needed.
Do I have a FUN cookie for you!
These tie-dye cookies are so easy and super-fun,
Great to celebrate the upcoming 4th of July.
You can easily change up the colors to fit any occasion.
prepare the sugar cookie recipe,
separate the dough into three balls,
Color each ball of dough (this part is messy, I wear plastic gloves and change them for each color.
Just like playing with Play-Doh, keep blending the dough until it’s all colored)
I rolled each of the colors of dough out thin in between wax paper sheet and then placed them on top of each other and rolled them smooth all together,
But you can make any design with the dough you prefer.
Remember when you were young and played with Play-Doh.
Mixing colors wasn’t the goal, but with the cookies, combining colors is fun!
At first, the colors were distinct and vibrant, but over time, as you press, the colors got muted.
Keep that in mind, you don’t want to overwork the dough.
I rolled all three doughs together in a log, then cut pieces and rolled them, cut the cookies, and then picked up the scraps of dough and rerolled them without really balling them up.
I just placed the scrap pieces between wax paper and rolled the pieces, just pressing them smooth.
Flour your cookie cutter, cut the cookies, place them on a baking sheet, and bake them.
It’s great to see all the varied colors and how the bottoms of the cookies and different than the tops.
I prefer Americolor gel food coloring, the colors are vibrant, and there isn’t an artificial taste.
One of the best parts about these cookies is that they look pretty all on their own, no icing needed.
The color possibilities are endless!
Here are some fall colors, leaves, and pumpkin, perfect for as soon as the weather starts to cool down from the heat of the summer!
These cute little leaves are so adorable!
This time I rolled each color into small balls, place them onto my work surface, added plastic wrap to avoid adding additional flour…
Rolling the cookie dough smooth with 1/4″ thick dowels so all the cookies will be the same thickness.
The more I re-rolled the dough, the more muted the colors became, as with the leaves, the pumpkins were bolder in color. I like how they all look so different.
Typically, I like things to look all the same, but with tie-dye cookies..
The surprise is the best part!

I am having trouble finding white food coring in stores
If you are unable to find it in a baking supply store, you can order it online. Look for gel coloring, as it’s concentrated. I use Americolor. I’m sure there are other brands as well. I prefer Americolor as I don’t find they give the food I use them in an “off” flavor. I’ve ordered from this company, here is a link to the product https://www.sweetbakingsupply.com/bright-white-americolor-food-color-p-237.html
