How to Make Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie
This pie is a cool, creamy dessert inspired by one of my favorite summer drinks. It combines sweet strawberries, bright lime, and the familiar tang of a margarita with a buttery, salty pretzel crust. The result is a frozen pie that is refreshing, creamy, and just sweet enough. In simple steps, you’ll know how to make Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie, a summer favorite!

The pretzel crust is what really makes this pie stand out. It adds the salty crunch you would expect from the rim of a margarita glass, but in dessert form. That little bit of salt balances the sweet strawberry filling and makes every bite taste even better.
This is an easy dessert to make ahead, which makes it especially nice for summer gatherings, cookouts, holidays, and celebrations. Since the pie is served frozen, it can be prepared well before you need it and kept in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.
Why You’ll Love This Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie
There is a lot to love about this pie, especially when you want a dessert that feels special without requiring a complicated baking project.
The strawberry filling is creamy and refreshing. The combination of strawberries and lime gives the filling that sweet and tangy flavor that makes a strawberry margarita so good.
The pretzel crust adds the perfect contrast. Instead of a traditional graham cracker crust, crushed pretzels bring a salty, slightly crunchy element that works beautifully with the sweet filling.
It is especially good served cold. The frozen texture makes this pie incredibly refreshing on a warm day.

The Pretzel Crust
A margarita needs a little salt, and that’s exactly why a pretzel crust works so well here.
The salty pretzels provide the same sweet and salty contrast as the salted rim of a margarita glass. They also add a little texture underneath the smooth, creamy filling.
The crust doesn’t need to look perfectly uniform. In fact, a slightly rustic pretzel crust fits this dessert perfectly. The small pieces around the edge add texture and make the pie look homemade.

The Strawberry Margarita Filling
The filling is where all of the margarita flavors come together.
Fresh strawberries provide the fruity flavor and beautiful pink color, while lime adds the bright citrus flavor you expect from a margarita. Once the filling is frozen, it becomes creamy and sliceable while still having that refreshing quality that makes this dessert so good.
For the best strawberry flavor, use ripe strawberries that are naturally sweet and flavorful. Since strawberries are such an important part of the filling, this is one recipe where choosing good fruit really does make a difference.
How else to serve this
Don’t want to fuss with a pie-style dessert? Press the crust, then add the filling into a loaf pan for thick pieces, or a square or rectangle pan. The recipe easily doubles.
How to Make Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie
Start by preparing the pretzel crust and pressing it into a deep 9 inch pie plate. I used a large 9 inch pie plate, which gives you plenty of room for the filling.
Next, prepare the strawberry margarita filling. Once the filling is ready, pour it into the prepared crust and smooth the top. It doesn’t need to be perfectly flat. A few natural swirls and uneven edges give the finished pie a homemade look.
Place the pie in the freezer and allow it to freeze completely before serving.
Once the pie is frozen, you can add the finishing touches. I like to add a generous amount of freshly whipped cream to the center, then finish it with sliced strawberries and lime.

Adding the Whipped Cream
Fresh whipped cream is the perfect finishing touch for this pie.
For the topping, beat 1 cup cold heavy cream with 3 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Add a generous dollop of whipped cream to the center of the frozen pie, then arrange sliced strawberries and lime on top.
You have two options here. You can add the whipped cream shortly before serving and serve the pie right away, or you can add it to the frozen pie and return the pie to the freezer. Refreezing the pie after adding the whipped cream makes it easier to keep the topping in place when you slice and serve it.

How to Serve Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie
Take the pie from the freezer and allow it to sit for a few minutes before slicing. This gives the filling just enough time to soften slightly while remaining frozen.
For cleaner slices, run your knife under warm water, dry it, and then slice the pie. Repeat as needed for each slice.
The pie is delicious on its own, but the combination of creamy filling, fresh strawberries, lime, whipped cream, and salty pretzel crust makes each slice feel complete.
Make Ahead and Freezer Storage
This is an excellent dessert to make ahead.
Once the pie is completely frozen, cover it well and keep it in the freezer until you’re ready to serve it. If you are making it several days ahead, keeping it tightly covered will help prevent freezer odors and ice crystals from affecting the texture.
If you add the whipped cream ahead of time, you can return the decorated pie to the freezer until serving.

Tips for the Best Strawberry Margarita Pie
Use ripe strawberries. The strawberries provide much of the flavor and color, so choose berries that are sweet, ripe, and flavorful.
Don’t skip the salty crust. The pretzel crust isn’t just a different type of pie crust. It is an important part of the margarita flavor combination.
Use fresh lime for the garnish. A few slices of fresh lime add color and reinforce the citrus flavor.
Give the pie a few minutes before slicing. Straight from the freezer, the pie will be very firm. Letting it sit briefly makes slicing easier.
Use a deep pie plate. This recipe makes a generously filled pie, so a deeper 9 inch pie plate works especially well.
Can I Make This Pie Ahead?
Yes. That’s one of the best things about this dessert. Prepare the pie, freeze it completely, and keep it covered in the freezer until you’re ready to serve it.
It is especially convenient for holidays, summer gatherings, Mother’s Day, birthdays, or any time you want a dessert that can be finished before your guests arrive.

A Pretty and Refreshing Summer Dessert
Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie is the kind of dessert that checks all the boxes. It is creamy, fruity, tart, salty, sweet, and refreshing, with just enough texture from the pretzel crust to keep every bite interesting.
The strawberry and lime topping makes it look festive without requiring much extra work, while the whipped cream adds a soft, creamy finish.
And that pretzel crust? It might just be my favorite part. The salty crunch underneath the cold strawberry filling gives you that margarita inspired sweet and salty combination in every bite.
If you love strawberry margaritas, this is a dessert worth making. It has all the flavors that make the drink so good, transformed into a cold, creamy pie that you can slice and share.

Recipe Notes
This pie was baked in a large 9 inch pie plate. A deeper pie dish works especially well because it gives you plenty of room for the generous layer of strawberry filling.
For the prettiest presentation, top the pie with whipped cream, sliced strawberries, and lime just before serving or freeze the decorated pie until you’re ready to slice it.

- * if you prefer a sweeter crust, add 1/4 cup sugar to the pretzel crust mixture. Brown sugar would be nice too.
- *If the pretzel crust is too crumbly and won’t hold together add a little more butter.

Tried this for my birthday…..I followed the directions exactly no had way too much crust and filling left over. Also it was barely pink and didn’t have much flavor….meaning I can barely taste the strawberries it tastes like cream cheese and that’s it. Very disappointed on my birthday
I’m sorry you had issues with the recipe, the pie plate I baked it in is a large 9″ pie plate and does hold a lot maybe that is why you had leftover. As far as the strawberry flavor, I’m made this with delicious results and I’m sure it does have quite a bit to do with using ripe and sweet strawberries. If your strawberries are not ripe and sweet, the flavor most likely be as potent. I use strawberries from a farm stand and they are often really sweet and flavorful. But like with most pies and baked items, I select the best ingredients so they give the best flavor. Hope that may help for future baking endeavors!
