Candy canes are so popular at Christmas times so no better time for me to try these Peppermint Candy Cane Cookies with Peppermint Icing. Even the sound of pink peppermint brings on a smile.

Christmas is the perfect time of year to break out your cookies cutters and make these peppermint-flavored cut out sugar cookies, the cookie dough is easy to work with, needs no refrigerating, doesn’t spread, meaning it holds its shape.

The icing on these cookies is flavored with peppermint too, making them not only pretty in pink with the help of a little pink food coloring, but they have just the right amount of minty-ness!

When these cookies were iced I added some edible glitter, like this type. It gives a great sparkle to the cookies but doesn’t show as well in the photographs. You can see it a little bit on the parchment paper, but in real life, the glitter on the cookies is really pretty!

  1. Diane, i n the recipe, it says “2 tsp” but doesn’t say 2 tsp. of WHAT (after the egg). Is it supposed to be 2 tsp. of flavoring?
