Little Peanut Baby Shower Cookies and Cupcakes

Homemade marshmallow fondant is one of my favorite ways to add simple decorations to cakes and cupcakes. It’s easy to make with just a few ingredients, rolls out smoothly, and can be cut into shapes for all kinds of decorating projects.

A Little Peanut baby shower is such a sweet theme, and these baby shower cookies and cupcakes make the dessert table extra special. With adorable elephant details and soft, pretty colors, these treats are perfect for celebrating a new little one.

I made these Little Peanut cookies and cupcakes to coordinate with the baby shower theme, and I love how the matching treats come together on one dessert table. Decorated cookies add a fun personalized touch, while cupcakes are easy for guests to grab and enjoy.

My friends “Little Peanut” will arrive soon. What an exciting event. What a fun baby shower theme.

She asked if I would make some cookies and cupcakes for the shower.

I made this recipe for the sugar cookies

I made these Lemon Ricotta Cupcakes

And this recipe for the fondant, I used a small amount of black gel food coloring, they now sell gray if you need options for these colors.

I used LorAnn’s Raspberry Flavor instead of raspberry fruit puree for the frosting. I didn’t want them pink, and the raspberry flavoring didn’t add color. I was afraid it would have that cough syrup taste and was glad it did not.

Raspberry Buttercream Frosting Recipe
Beat 1 cup butter until pale,
Add 4 cups powdered sugar
 3 tablespoons cream
Then add 6 drops of raspberry flavor.

They looked plain and simple, but were packed with a huge flavor surprise.

I made them out of marshmallow fondant (recipe here) and cut with elephant cookie cutters
along with discs with the baby’s name, they didn’t look so plain anymore.

I made the little elephants out of marshmallow fondant, using an elephant cookie cutter, along with scalloped fondant discs for the baby’s name. The elephants and name discs added just enough detail to keep the cupcakes from looking too plain.

I was especially glad the elephants stood up nicely on the frosting without falling over. I had rolled the marshmallow fondant a little thicker than usual and was hoping they wouldn’t be too heavy. Thankfully, they worked out perfectly!

I also used an edible marker to write “Little Peanut” on circus peanuts, and wrote “Gabriel” on the scalloped fondant discs. The edible marker was also handy for darkening the little eyes on the elephants. For their feet, I simply pressed the grooves into the fondant with a knife.

The circus peanuts were tucked in between the cupcakes, adding another fun little detail to the Little Peanut baby shower theme.

And the cupcakes weren’t just cute, they were delicious! The rich, fresh lemon flavor of the cupcakes paired beautifully with the delicate raspberry frosting. The combination of bright lemon and sweet raspberry was absolutely perfect.

I also make a “CAKE” but not just any cake. A diaper cake. A four-tier diaper cake
Really easy and fun.
