That’s right, Ganache.
Sounds fancy schmancy but relatively easy. Chocolate and cream and oh so delicious.
To make Ganache: heat heavy cream and pour it over chocolate, stir until chocolate melts.
I prefer dark chocoalte so I use 60% Ghirardeli chocolate or 70% (it’s less sweet) either worked well.

The Recipes to Make These Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes
- Chocolate Cupcake Recipe
- Buttercream Frosting to make sure the frosting stayed really white, I used clear vanilla and white Americolor food coloring.
- Red Heart Sprinkles or heart quins, and they are also referred to. But add a cherry or yoru favorite, sprinkles, diced strawberries are also fun options.
- Ganache sure is delicious! [Ganache- is a 1:1 ratio, use equal parts heavy cream and chocolate. Heat 1/2 cup heavy cream on medium heat until it simmers, then pour it over a 1/2 cup bowl of chocolate or chocolate chips, let it sit 5 minutes, then stir until shiny and creamy. *HOT Fudge Recipe HERE, you can also make these cupcakes using this hot fudge sauce!
- Dip the cooled cupcakes into the ganache, then add frosting and sprinkles, nuts, and a cherry if you’d like.
Some cupcakes even got a little NUTTY! I couldn’t resist chopped walnuts on mine 🙂

The star of these cupcakes is the rich chocolate ganache. Do not use chocolate syrup. Syrup will not give a rich, delicious flavor, nor will it stay on top of the cupcakes.

Every bite of these Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes brings back memories of your favorite ice cream shop. They’re easy to make, fun to decorate, and always disappear quickly, so don’t be surprised if everyone asks you to make them for every gathering.
