Grilled Chicken Apple Sausage Dinner in 30 minutes

Grilled Chicken Apple Sausage Dinner in 30 minutesGrilled Chicken Apple Sausage Dinner in 30 minutes.

Fall always seems like a great time to cook with apples. As soon as I saw the Chicken Apple Sausage I had the image of Grilled Apples with Brown Sugar.

I grilled the sausage and apples on a grill pan and with the brown sugar, it gave this meal a sweet caramelized flavor that went well with the savory sausage. What an easy meal for weeknights to get everyone around the table.

Grilled Chicken Apple Sausage 30-minute meal  Printable Recipe

1 package Hillshire Farm Chicken Apple Sausage

1 Granny Smith Apple

3 Tablespoons brown sugar

2 1/4 cup water for sauce and rice

1 cup Basmati Rice

1/4 cup sliced almonds

1 scallion

place almonds in a heated saucepan and stir until golden, add rice and 1 tablespoon oil. Once it’s all combined, add 2 cups water, bring to boil with the lid on. Once it comes to a boil, turn on low and time for 15 minutes.

Core the apple and slice it. Place sausage and apple slices on a lightly oiled heated grill pan. Turn apples with tongs and be sure not to burn them. Once they have softened and have grill marks on both sides remove them from pan, continue heating sausage. Add 1/4 cup water and 3 tablespoons brown sugar to the pan, turn on low it will thicken a bit, add apples back to pan and turn them in the syrup.

To serve, place rice with almonds on the place and slice sausage, place apple slices on top and drizzle with any remaining syrup.

Really great idea, Diane! The only other dinner I’ve had with apple in it was a pork dinner, but we loved it, so I know this would be a hit too.

I was just introduced to the idea of grilled fruit this summer when it was suggested I grill peaches. So, apples are in season, I might have to try this. Great recipe.
