[…] And if almond isn’t your thing, no worries there! Add in your favorite, lemon, maple, or just use all vanilla. I have loads of amazing cupcake recipes. I also have lots of decorating tips if you feel like getting fancy and adding some flair to the tops of your cupcakes. Or if you like to mix and match flavors, here are some great frosting alternatives! […]

[…] Yes, you can. Adjust the thickness by adding a little more powdered sugar if necessary. I also have other frosting recipes that are great for decorating as well! My recipe for Pink Raspberry Frosting is perfect for piping these sweet little Russian roses. And there are more frosting ideas decorating tips and tricks here! […]

Hi Linda, Italian Buttercream or Swiss Meringue Buttercream both stay soft to the touch after being piped or spread, unlike American Buttercream which "crusts" and becomes firm to the touch.

Strawberry Swiss Meringue Buttercream https://www.createdby-diane.com/2020/06/strawberry-frosting-recipes.html
Coffee Swiss Meringue Buttercream https://www.createdby-diane.com/2021/07/coffee-swiss-meringue-buttercream-frosting.html <<you can omit the coffee and add vanilla extract or another flavor of your liking.
and there is a "fake" cream cheese frosting that has no cream cheese in it but tastes like it.
I really love Italian "Meringue" Buttercream and in recent years have made a lot of Swiss Meringue Buttercream which has become a favorite as well, they are similar to each other, but the steps are different, I'd suggest reading both of those instructions and see what sounds good to you as far as the steps go, be sure to have a good thermometer before beginning and I can't wait to hear which one you like!

Hi Diane,
Thanks for all the great recipes you share. I have been looking for a frosting recipe that does not crystalize or harden and is creamy but holds its shape if I choose to decorate. One that does not use cream cheese or stabilized whipped cream. Is there such a recipe?
I would appreciate any recommendations.
