You can choose to substitute any tomato item for the tomato bouillon but it will not be the same… tomato sauce, tomato paste coat the rice and make it a different texture as I’m sure it has to do with the thickness and acid in the tomatoes. I really prefer the tomato bouillon, but you may like tomato paste.
