Cheddar Biscuits with Refried Bean Gravy
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1½ cups chicken broth
  • 8 oz. Refried Beans
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
Cheddar Biscuits
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons Bakewell Cream
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1½ cups cold milk
  • 2 oz. grated Cheddar Cheese
Instructions
  1. Heat butter and flour in skillet.
  2. Slowly pour in chicken broth and whisk continually.
  3. Add in refried beans and whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in cumin.
  5. Gravy will thicken upon standing.
Cheddar Biscuits
  1. Mix, flour, Bakewell cream, baking soda, salt with shortening with pastry cutter until crumbly.
  2. Add milk and cheese and stir with fork until incorporated.
  3. Roll out and cut ½" thick biscuits with cookie or biscuit cutter.
  4. Bake at 475 degrees for 5 minutes.
  5. Turn oven off and leave biscuits in oven for 5-10 minutes until golden.
