Peppermint Cut Out Cookies with Peppermint Icing

Peppermint flavored cookies with peppermint icing, pretty in pink these candy cane cut out cookies are a Christmas and Winter must.

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4-3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Peppermint Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon corn syrup
  • 2-3 Tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 3 drops soft pink colo
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In the bowl of a mixer cream together butter and confectioner's sugar.
  3. Add to this the egg and flavorings.
  4. Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Mix until the dough forms a ball, or pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  6. Roll out on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Bake at 400° for 7-8 minutes.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool completely, then mix the icing.
  9. Mix sugar with corn syrup and water along with extract and food coloring until icing is smooth. Pipe onto cookies using a #3 tip.
  10. I put some edible glitter on the cookies to make them shine!
  11. Let the icing dry before packaging for at least 12 hours.
