Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes
  • 3 pounds russet potatoes
  • 2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or the amount you prefer, potatoes are quite bland without salt)
  • cracked black pepper to taste
  1. Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into a large dice so that all the potato pieces are fairly even.
  2. Place the potatoes in the slow cooker with the chicken broth.
  3. Set the slow cooker to high for 3 hours (or low for 4.5 hours)
  4. When the time is up, test the potatoes. They should easily slide off a fork or knife.
  5. Turn the slow cooker off.
  6. Add the butter, cream, and salt and pepper and mash with a potato masher or use an electric mixer. Mix until smooth. Add more milk or cream if you want them creamier.
  7. Add in any topping at this time and mix.
  8. They will stay hot at a low temperature in the slow cooker if you're serving a large meal.
