Ah another filter chick! I have been doing these forever...! You can bake all kinds of batters/items in them. I tend to use the brown ones but the white ones work too.
You don't have to use springforms - you can use any 'ol pan. And, the filters make excellent pan liners if you are in a pinch for larger cakes.

I buy an enormous amount of these for this and just for everyday snack holders - sprinkle a bittle goldfish in one and it does the trick.
:) Try out other stuff, it really is fun experimenting.

Here in the states they are available in grocery stores, convenience stores and they fit into a coffee pot to brew coffee. I'm not sure where you will be able to find them, I'm sure they are available online, they come in packs of 50 or 100 and run a couple dollars.

[…] For all the times I have observed that coffee filters resemble giant cupcake liners, I can't believe I never thought to actually try baking in them! Diane from Created by Diane did give it a try though, with awesome results! Her process is easy and the cakes are the perfect size for two people to share as a dessert. They would also make cute smash cakes! [how to make coffee filter cupcakes] […]

Hi,
Yes I think a bit of oil will work. If you added nothing the mix would stick to the paper, but it would most likely give you a better result that it sticking to a pan. I think. I used the inexpensive coffee filters. Parchment mini cake wrappers may work well for this, I know Sur La Table sells them. At the moment I can't think of another resource, but the brown waxy liners you see at high end bake shops are the type I'm thinking.
Hope that is helpful, good luck and let me know how it goes :)

Hello,

I have a 3 x 5 Fat Daddio's baking pan that I use for dry baking when backpacking. So, a few things first. I do not carry sprays, butters, etc...to use while backpacking. I like to keep it as simple as possible. The items that I bake are things that are "just add water" such as the berry muffin mixes. It is nothing fancy, but when I have been in the woods for a few days, a hot muffin is delightful... So, I have been simply pouring the batter into the Fat Daddio's pan and then baking, but it sticks. I can cram parchment paper in there, but it can be a pain. So, I have been looking for some oversized muffin liners, but not finding much. Then, I thought about using coffee filters, but was unsure, which is how I ended up here...

So, I was just wondering if there are particular filters that work better than others, or will the cheapo pack work the same? Also, do you think that maybe rubbing a little oil in the coffee filter before hand will work? I know I could just try it, and I guess I will, but it is late tonight, so I was curious if you could give me any tips, or alternatives to using the spray oil stuff.

Thanks,
