I too am confused on the wet strips, i have never done or heard of this before, sounds confusing also.

I haven’t heard of ‘wet towel strips’ round the cake before baking. Could you please explain this technique to me. I usually put a band of baking paper in case I’m lucky enough to have a good rise but I am interested in this new (to me) idea. Lovely cake by the way.
